My health story

I’ve suffered since I was 6 years old from allergies. At the beginning it was only allergic rhinitis (pollens: birch tree, grasses: Gramineae). As a teenager I suffered from allergic asthma. Then as a young adult I began to have food allergies (apple, tomato, carrot, pear, peach, raspberry and nuts) and to have allergic reactions when in contact with cat hair and mites. An other complain I had, I could not go through my day without snacking in the morning and the afternoon, I was always hungry and I was always bloated. It was so bad, I don’t even tell you how many times we asked me if I was pregnant…

Around 2010 and after many years of anti-histaminic treatment and little relief, I decided to try to find an alternative way of dealing with my allergies. I began with avoiding all processed food and reducing the dairy (seldom cheese or yogurt) and saw my symptoms improving. I went on by “detoxing” twice a year and used probiotics and supplements to improve my condition. I could live better but still wasn’t free of my allergies.

In the beginning of 2018, I decided to try 10 weeks without processed sugar. It was not an easy journey. Around week 4-5 was the hardest period, I could not do anything else than thinking about all the pastries I would be eating on Monday of week 11 and where could be the best place to buy them. After this terrible slump, I was done with sugar. I checked the last week of my challenge on my tracker. But didn’t want to go back to sugar. I was feeling better, freer and empowered . Since then I have hardly ever eaten anything artificially sweetened.

In the summer of 2018, I began a treatment with Dr Sarah Harris in the Paracelsus Clinic in Switzerland. I had proper lab works done. A leaky gut and some underlying viral infections were diagnosed. I began with a special diet designed by a nutritionist from the clinic and a supplement regimen decided by the doctor to cure my leaky gut and rebalance my immune system.

I spent some time in the clinic to have my teeth controlled (Full view dental x-ray-OPG and dental examination by a biological dentist) and various therapies including:

  • Colonic hydrotherapy

  • Liver and gallbladder detoxification (Dr Rau’s way)

  • Pulsating magnetic field therapy

  • Laser light therapy

  • Infusions (vitamins and supplements)

  • Ozone therapy by infusion

  • Ionized oxygen

Continuously reading and listening to podcasts on health and wellness, I decided as well to decrease the stress on my body by cutting out some exercies and by increasing my rest time. And I try to be more reliable with my yoga practice, 10 minutes before bedtime and 10 when I wake up. Regarding the way I am eating, I have introduced more fat and protein in my diet and increased my veggies intake. I’ve introduced intermittent fasting as well, I eat in a 10-hour window every day and on Sunday, I stop eating after lunchtime until 9 AM on Monday.

After my stay at the clinic, I had a protocol that went on until March 2019. I followed a very strict diet (excluding all my allergens, gluten, egg and dairy). And I was taking supplements to work on my detoxification and my intestinal upbuilding. I noticed I felt much better, my levels of energy were higher, I suffered much less of bloating and I were fine with only 3 meals per day and no snacks. I hardly ever experienced any allergic symptom.

After March 2019, I reintroduced the egg, but kept away the gluten and the dairy and my allergens. I am feeling so good that I don’t want to ruin all the efforts... I come occasionally across some tomatoes or carrots in some dishes when I am a guest and don't experience any reaction… Which is already a promising sign…

I will keep you posted on my progress.
